Please join us for the May Vegan Meetup at Alem Ethiopian Village! Whether you are a long-time vegan who wants to try a new place or a new vegan, curious, or just willing to try, you will not want to miss this awesome dining experience.
Kim Fisher-Isaacs says... Alem Ethiopian Village is a Shepherd Express’s Best of 2010 Winner and advertises itself as “Heaven for Vegans” and looking at the menu it’s easy to see why. Something about Ethiopian Food and Culture: Ethiopian food is eaten with fingers because it is tasteful and intimate. Traditionally, in Ethiopia, one does not eat food alone or in a separate plate. Ethiopians say, "Food tastes better when it is eaten together." Therefore, food is generally eaten in a group setting, around a wide serving basket (mesob), feeding not only oneself but also hand-feeding one another (giving "gursha"), especially guests, as an expression of love and hospitality.
With the word VEGAN in big red letters on the front window, it’s no surprise that the menu is loaded with numerous vegan options found under the appetizer, salad and entrée, platter and combination listings. Ethiopian beer and wine are available in addition to American beverages.
You may view their menu at http://www.alemethiopianvillage.com/menu
The spirit of vegan meetup is to promote and support a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle and we therefore request that attendees choose only vegan options at our shared meals.
Please remember to RSVP by Friday, May 6th, and arrive by 12noon on the day of to guarantee a seat. As a courtesy to the restaurant, please be prepared to pay with cash if at all possible.
In addition, PLEASE remember to change your RSVP as your plans change. We'd like to know if we should be waiting on you or if we can go ahead and order! ;)
