What we're about

This group is exclusively dedicated to tasting and trying wines in the Milwaukee area. It is intended for those people who enjoy a good glass of wine and time with friends. It doesn't matter if you prefer your wine from a bottle with a wood cork, a synthetic cork, or a box. We are looking for people who consider themselves more wine "appreciados" than aficionados. Age and gender are never a factor here. You just need to like wine, and have a desire to learn more about wine and the wine making process, as well as what creates a wine's nuances.

Wine tasting events are planned and organized on a monthly basis at local establishments or at member's homes.

YOU MUST READ THE Membership Policy (found here (https://www.meetup.com/Milwaukee-Wine-Lovers/about/)) before joining this group. Please do not skip this step. Request for membership will not be approved if you have not read the membership policy prior to your request to join.

I look forward to meeting you and enjoying your active participation.

In Vino Veritas!

Aaron

French Major - Graduation - Champagne

114 N Main St

$30.00

Congratulations, you've completed your French major. We've tasted our way through the major regions of France, paired foods with our Bordeaux, and sipped our Provencal rose and Burgundian Chablis out on the patio. It's time to pop the bubbly and celebrate - literally.

Deb Gunther from our leadership team has collaborated with one of our long time venue partners - Wine Maniacs in Oconomowoc, and assembled a fantastic Champagne tasting for us. We will taste several wines from the iconic region and compare and contrast the differences.

The term Champagne comes from its region where it is produced in “Champagne”. It is illegal to label any product Champagne unless it came from the Champagne wine region of France and is produced under the rules of the appellation. This wine is produced from specific types of grapes grown in the Champagne region following rules that demand, among other things, specific vineyard practices, sourcing of grapes exclusively from designated places within the Champagne region, specific grape-pressing methods and secondary fermentation of the wine in the bottle to cause carbonation.

Make sure to grab your spot soon as this event, like all our in-person events, will fill up quickly. The cost for the event is $30 per person which will cover the tasting and gratuity. Please pay your admission fee at the time you RSVP. We look forward to celebrating with you at Wine Maniacs in November.

PARKING: Parking is available at various lots. Some of them can be found by driving to 148 W. Wisconsin St. and taking the access road across the street. (Note that the City of Oconomowoc Legion Lot, at about 120 E. Wisconsin St., has a 3 hour limit.)

DINNER PLANS?: Saturday dinnertime is usually booked up; anyone wanting to dine in after the tasting should make a reservation for 5PM on 11/6. You must call[masked]; other options such as opentable.com are no longer available. Tell them you're with the Milwaukee Wine Lover's event, so there's no concern if we run late.

IMPORTANT: This is a guaranteed event and is non-refundable after seven days prior to the event. Failure to attend a guaranteed event will result in a "No Show" and could result in cancellation of membership. Also, this event will not have a wait list as it has an event fee associated with it and Meetup does not allow it.
