Hello Wine Enthusiasts!

My apologies for the lack of communication recently. Life has been happening and the Weekly Wine Word has become more like the bi-weekly wine word.  However, plans are underway for our May Magnum event.  Look for the Kick-off Summer Cocktail Party TBA soon.

Some events that you can look forward to this Spring and Summer are Demi-events at the Trocadero, BYOB at the Cathedral Square for the Jazz in the Park, and the Thief Wine Bar in Shorewood. I am also trying to make special arrangements for our group at the Milwaukee Wine Festival this August, and this fall we will be taking an outing to a couple of near-by wineries.

However, this summer I would also like to plan some personal tasting events in members homes who would be willing to open their home and host an event for our summer Magnum events.  All you have to do is open your home for a Saturday date of your choosing in the mid-late portion of either June, July or August, tell me how many people you can accommodate (please include both indoor and outdoor entertaining areas), choose a theme (ex. - any type of wine starting with a "C", Australian wines, Rose's, my favorite fruities, whatever - we can be as creative as you would like) and provide some of the food. I will work with you every step of the way by posting the event, advising all members regarding what type of wine to bring, keep up with the guest count and reminders, and bring additional food and supplies. I will even arrive to your home early and help with set-up.  The guest members would then be tasked to bring a bottle of the themed wine (or you could have some bring wine and others bring a potluck item if you prefer.)  I need three volunteers - one for June, the other for July and another for August.  Please let me know if you would be willing to provide your space for one of our summer events by contacting me via my profile.  I hope to receive enthusiastic responses!

If you have no plans for Mother's Day weekend or are still trying to find the perfect place to take Mom out, consider attending Jazz on the Vine in Elkhart Lake at the Osthoff May 11th - 13th.  http://www.jazzonthevine.net/index.html. Sensational jazz greats are playing and Sunday Brunch is also available.  Get your tickets and/or make your reservations now!

In the meantime, we have only two more spots left available for our Cinco de Mayo Sangria Demi event at Antigua in West Allis this Thursday evening. So, grab a spot before they are gone or update your RSVP by midnight tomorrow if you are unable to attend. I need to supply a final guest count on Wednesday. And that's no "Lie"!

Our wine word for the week....

Lie: French term for the dead yeast and sediment of wine also known as lees.

In Vino Veritas!

Marlene
