The University of Milwaukee's Student Union has been hosting Lyrical Sanctuary for 12 years, and it's always a spoken word experience.
If you're ready to nod your head to live music and metaphors -- with an occasional "mmmhmmmm" and finger snap -- don't miss this poetic meet-up.
Let's all get together for the open mic and featured poet, Kevin Coval, from 8-10pm. But, you should come early to check out the writing workshop if you have words on your brain and need to get them off.
7-7:45pm: Writing Workshop | Inclusive Excellence Center (Union 198)
8-10pm: Open Mic & Performance | Union Fireside Lounge
FEATURED SPOKEN WORD ARTIST
Kevin Coval is the founder of Louder Than a Bomb: The Chicago Youth Poetry Festival. He recently released a book, Schtick, which was described by The Chicago Tribune as "a sensational collection, alternately heartfelt, humorous and provocatively political." He serves as the Artistic Director of Young Chicago Authors and offers youth writing workshops throughout Chicago and beyond.
Free and open to the public
