We are an open-minded, welcoming, social community for people interested in consciousness and egolessness. (mindfulness, awareness, meditation)
We have come to realize that we are Not our Ego (false self).
We are a social and educational community for people interested in:
1) Shedding their egos (as much as we can) to reveal one's true self and
2) Practicing / learning about consciousness, awareness, meditation... which helps us become more selfless and emotionally balanced, resulting in more compassion toward ourselves and others.
Ego - a false image of Self, the False Self...
We have events centered around discussions and socializing, also sessions of study and meditation. Basically we aim to be a healthy, social, fulfilling substitute for going out to bars and clubs.
We discuss related topics including each others' experiences with similar groups. As individuals or as a group, we attend lectures (talks) and visit other groups who practice meditation and consciousness.
Not a singles "hook-up" group
We are open to both single and non-single people. Please do not join with the intention of picking up. Join if you have a genuine interest in the subject matter.
This is not a commercial venture. We are not selling anything, you don't either - spamming and promoting your business is not allowed nor is selling anything, unless the group asks for it.

Basicallyanyone of any belief systemwho is open-minded, aims to expose their ego (including belief systems) and learn how to become more conscious - those who aim to be kind and compassionate to themselves and others.

Some newcomers have mentioned that I should explain that even though we have a large membership, we average around 15 people at our events (including Visiting Events). The average is around 20 when it is a discussion event. And you'll need to RSVP more quickly at discussion events because they fill up.
As the Organizer, Iprefer that you have a picture of yourself in your profile- this is not about "image" but about group safety (yes, i know, that's based on fear aka ego). It helps members who allow people into their homes for our events. Plus, photos make socializing much more comfortable and easier when we meet in person.
Mindfulness refers to being completely in touch with and aware of the present moment, and observing your inner experience without judging it. A mindful approach to one's inner experience is simply viewing "thoughts as thoughts" and "feelings as feelings" as opposed to evaluating certain thoughts/feelings as positive or negative.
Mindfulness helps alleviate suffering. It can help with anxiety and addictions.

Why calm the Ego?
Naive Not we are to believe that we have or can achieve complete egolessness.
We strive Not for perfection but hope for progression in our attempt to shed our egos.
It is our choice to strive for consciousness, for selflessness, for oneness with all others, to progress toward becoming an "ego Not". The alternative is to be selfish and fearful so that we suffer and struggle and twist our lives into a tangle.
