This Meetup is for anyone interested in taking classes to learn how to develop and practice Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). MBSR is a program that has been scientifically proven to help individuals deal with stress, chronic pain, and illness, as well as develop greater equanimity and well-being. It can help you get in touch with your mind and body in a way that will help you be truly present in your life. This class includes guided meditation practices, mindful movement exercises, and the opportunity to learn new skills which can help you communicate more effectively, and handle stressful situations with greater ease. It is a structured and supportive program that is highly experiential. MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society. Since it was first taught in 1979, thousands of people have benefited from it. -- This Meetup also lists drop-in Mindfulness Meditation sessions (outside of the full MBSR courses). MBSR classes are taught through quietstillplace (see www.quietstillplace.com for more information).

See http://quietstillplace.com/about-mbsr/ for links to great videos and more background information on MBSR.
