Tuesday Afternoon Meditation Group

  • to
  • Tiger Boe Institute

    7 Clarendon Street, Nottingham (map)

    52.955822 -1.156798

  • A few minutes walk along Wollaton Street from the Royal Centre tram stop, very central and close to all main public transport links, including rail. There is parking nearby.
  • The Tuesday Afternoon Meditation Group is a friendly, relaxed and informal weekly gathering that focuses on periods of Mindfulness meditation practice. (It also usually includes a brief segment of teaching about Mindfulness, plus an opportunity to chat and get to know other group members over refreshments during the coffee break.)

All are welcome and there are absolutely no restrictions on attendance.

The Tuesday Afternoon Meditation Group starts at 2.30pm, or just after. (The doors are open from 2pm and you are very welcome to arrive early in order to relax a while before the meeting begins.) The afternoon itself consists of 3 or 4 periods of group meditation (which are all guided so that everyone shares in the same meditation experience, and to help those who are fairly new to meditation). These meditations range from 10 minutes to over 20 minutes in length.

The afternoon also usually includes a short segment of teaching on Mindfulness or a related theme (such as self-compassion, quietening the inner critic, or living with greater acceptance) plus there's a period of group discussion (about the teaching) and a coffee break, which provides chance to chat and get to know other members of the group.

The small crowd who attend the Tuesday Afternoon Meditation Group are a very welcoming, "open" and friendly bunch of people - so you'll be made to feel very much at home! Most people who attend enjoy the social aspect of the group - the Tuesday Afternoon Meditation Group is a great opportunity to relax and socialise with like-minded people, as well as being a weekly meeting that helps you to deepen and develop your own meditation practice.

Most weeks there are about 10-15 people present at the meeting, and the afternoon's activities usually run through until about 4.30pm. Refreshments are provided, including tea, biscuits, water and juice (which are all FREE).

This meetup is run by the Nottingham Mindfulness Group - See Here for more information.

    Please Note:
Our meetings are designed to share information about Mindfulness and to offer the opportunity to experience and practice Mindful meditation, plus the chance to socialise with others who are interested in Mindfulness (or meditation in general). Our meetings are not structured to form a progressive course or formal training in Mindfulness, and they do not, in and of themselves, constitute a "Mindfulness-Based" therapy (such as MBSR or MBCT). We publish and promote comprehensive details of the formal classes and courses in Mindfulness and "Mindfulness-Based" therapies that are available in Nottingham and the wider East Midlands - please ask us for a free copy of this information if it would be of interest to you.
Any information provided in the course of our meetings is not intended to be taken as a replacement for medical advice. Any person with a condition requiring medical or therapeutic treatment should consult a qualified medical practitioner or therapist.
Mindfulness and other forms of meditation are safe and appropriate practices for the vast majority of people and they are proven to offer a wide range of benefits, including the lowering of stress and deep levels of relaxation. However current research indicates that all forms of meditation (including Mindfulness) may be unwise for people with bipolar vulnerability or those who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD). If you are currently receiving treatment for any form of mental health issue (or have received such treatment in the recent past, or have reason to believe that you might need such treatment), you should consult your doctor or health care professional before engaging with Mindfulness or any form of meditation.
