Join us for sacred walking meditation Saturday mornings. See Calendar

“Walking meditation is really to enjoy the walking – walking not in order to arrive, just for walking.” — Thich Nhat Hanh
Join us for this sacred, healing practice, a beautiful way to reconnect with ourselves and our world. When we walk slowly, we breath slowly and we begin to touch the peace that is always available in each of our hearts. No experience is required. In fact, Lama Yeshe Jinpa, of Lion's Roar Dharma Center often says, “Beginner’s mind is best.”

We meet between 8:15 and 8:30, on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, in front of McKinley Library. At 8:30, we walk as a group to a beautiful oak tree located immediately to the left of the library entrance. We take a few minutes to read a a few prayers. Then we walk at our individual paces around the perimeter of the park. Upon completion of our walk, we wait for one another under the oak tree and dedicate our walk to all suffering beings, everywhere.

This practice is suitable for anyone with a sincere desired to bring more peace, not only into our own lives but into the lives of friends, family and people everywhere.

After our walk is completed, we sometimes go out for tea and coffee. If you have any questions, please contact either Patty or Doug. We look forward to meeting you in the near future. Let 2014 be a year of healing.

Today is Martin Luther King's birthday and we found a quote that inspired us. We thought our walking friends might like it too.

"Life's most persistent and urgent question, what are you doing to help others?" Martin Luther King
