The Breath Mindfulness Discourse
Please join us for a simple yet powerful meditation practice, in Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village tradition. This light & accessible practice is focused on finding present moment awareness through the body and the breath. We sit for about 10 minutes (blankets and bolsters provided, or you can bring your own), followed by a short walking meditation. Afterward Bart will share some insights from various Buddhist teachings, and how you can apply these mindfulness practices to your everyday life. This week's practice will focus on the Anapanasati Sutra (the breath mindfulness discourse). We finish with a brief check-in (Dharma sharing) where you have the opportunity to share a bit about how you are doing. Open to all levels. No meditation experience required. $5 suggested donation. All proceeds support the building of the Ingrid School in Matopeni, Kenya. We meet at Global Breath Studio, located at 119 W Main St (3rd floor) in downtown Durham. Happiness starts by being present. The conditions for happiness are present in each moment. Our simple meditation practice in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh will help you arrive into the present moment. By practicing in a group we can take care of ourselves, by supporting one another. We meet once a week for about 20 minutes of sitting meditation, 10 minutes of walking meditation, and a brief check-in. This is wonderful way to find community, and to find home.
