Please join us for a simple yet powerful meditation practice, in Thich Nhat Hanh'sPlum Village tradition.
We sit for about 15 minutes (blankets and bolsters provided, or you can bring your own), followed by a short (5-10 minute) walking meditation. After that Bart will share some teachings from various Buddhist Sutras, and how you can apply these mindfulness practices to your everyday life. We'll do a a brief check-in to see how everyone is doing, and end with a short Yoga Nidra, which supports deep relaxation.
Everyone is welcome, even if you have never meditated before!
This gathering is led by Bart, who has studied mindfulness for many years with Thich Nhat Hanh. He has created a very light and accessible practice, focused on finding present moment awareness through the body & the breath.
We meet at Bart & Nina's Global Breath Studio, located at 119 W Main St (3rd floor) in downtown Durham. All classes and gatherings at the studio are by donation. There is a suggested donation of $5 for this Meetup, which supports the building of the Ingrid School in Matopeni, Kenya. For more information about parking, please click here.
