Mindfulness Magic in Narberth
A diverse group of families with children ages 6-11 are welcome. Come as you can, no commitment. Free, Donations Appreciated Curious how Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Dalai Lama transformed the world by allowing their feelings, like rage and sadness, to compel them to act from a place of compassion? The magic of mindfulness is that it can help us cultivate emotional resilience, feel compassion for ourselves and others and sharpen our moral compass. Families from a variety of backgrounds are invited to learn and practice mindfulness skills together. Sessions will offer a bit of neuroscience, movement, games, exercises, poems, equations, stories and tools like bubbles and flashlights. Plus, goodies to take home for practice!

What we're about

Announcing occasional meetings in the Greater Philadelphia , PA area.

This group welcomes all concerned with the well-being of children, adolescents and teens: educators, parents, community members & caregivers. Explore mindfulness vie experiences, research-based benefits, brain science, considerations for teaching and practicing skills, resources, concerns and whatever else comes up.

The ancient practice of mindfulness meets the particular needs of today’s youth because it cultivates deepened awareness, concentration and insight. Moreover, explicit mindfulness skills training can impact the biggest predictor of success: cognitive control— delaying gratification in pursuit of goals, maintaining impulse control, managing upsetting emotions well, holding focus and possessing a readiness to learn. The federal Every Student Succeeds Act recognizes mindfulness as an evidence-based social emotional learning intervention, but it is also a foundational way of being that serves youth while they are busily leading their lives.
