What we're about

Do you want to feel more calm and present? Do you like being outdoors? Want to meet other people? If so, this group is for you.

Mindfulness for the West Country is an inclusive group where people can get together in the outdoors and practice being more present. It is based around practical mindfulness techniques, with no particular belief system associated with it. So, whether you are religious or non-religious, spiritual or non-spiritual, you are welcome to come along and enjoy being mindful outside.

The location will vary with each event, but will tend to be around the Bristol and Gloucestershire area.

Evening Mindfulness at Westridge Wood, Wotton-under-Edge

Westridge Wood is a lovely, peaceful woodland on the edge of the Cotswolds, near the charming Cotswold market town of Wotton-under-Edge. It's perfect for outdoor mindfulness, so if you are able to get here I highly recommend it. WHERE & WHEN We will meet at 7:00pm at Old London Road, Wotton-under-Edge, ready to start at 7:10pm: https://goo.gl/maps/vJQbsSWHqK22 - co-ordinates are 51°38'50.1"N 2°21'02.1"W. The postcode is GL12 7EG, but that might not get you to the exact spot. Look for a turning signposted to Waterley Bottom. We will be meeting right there. WHAT WE WILL DO We will walk into the woods and then go through a series of mindfulness techniques. Half of the time we will be stood still and the other half of the time we will be walking slowly. Westridge Wood is a lovely peaceful spot for becoming more present in this way while in nature. Towards the end we will also have a little bit of social time to chat. COST This group does cost me money (and time) to run, so any voluntary donations will be gratefully received. However, if you are short of money you are absolutely welcome to attend for free. PLEASE NOTE: * Please do not bring dogs or young children as these have the potential to create additional complications. * Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear and bring food and drink. * If you are unsure how to get to the meeting point, please contact me well in advance. If you try to contact me on the day I not have enough time to help you. * If you do want to contact me on the day, please phone or text me on[masked] rather than sending a message via Meetup as I may not have internet access. * Once the session starts I will have my phone turned off to avoid disruptions, therefore you will be unable to contact me after the start time. * If you have any mental health issues, please let me know in advance as the session may not be suitable for you. While most people have no problems with the mindfulness techniques, please be aware I am not a trained mental health professional and cannot take responsibility if any adverse effects are experienced. Walk & Outdoor Mindfulness at Cirencester Park

Old Station Car Park

Join us at Cirencester Park for a pleasant walk and an afternoon of outdoor mindfulness. WHERE & WHEN We will meet at 10:30am at the Old Station Car Park in Cirencester, ready to leave at 10:45am. There is no parking charge on Sundays. Old Station Car Park Tetbury Road Cirencester GL7 1US https://goo.gl/maps/SVRzciUX63U2 WHAT WE WILL DO From the car park, we will walk into Cirencester Park. It's about 2.5 miles to get to the spot where we will do the mindfulness, but well worth it because it's really peaceful once we get there. This first bit of walking will just be a normal walk. Once we get there we will stop for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we will get into the mindfulness techniques. The first half of this will be about becoming aware of our senses and our body. In the second half we will get a bit more experimental and explore the mind, thoughts, awareness, etc. Although most of the afternoon will be in silence, there will be some social time towards the end for discussion and chat as we walk back towards the car park. If you try to contact me on the day I may be driving to the meeting point or there may just not be enough time to help you.
