What we're about

You’re welcome to join us for Mindfulness meditation classes and workshops. It is open for beginners who would like to discover and learn, and meditators who would like to keep up their practice in a friendly environment. We meet most of the time in the park (beautiful Jardim Gulbenkian), where participation is free and open to donations. You'll also find information about other Mindfulness events taking place in other locations in Lisbon.

After Mindfulness was introduced into medical settings in the US in the 1970s, modern neuroscience and psychology has confirmed the benefits of Mindfulness practice for our health and wellbeing, mental as well as physical. Common experiences with regular practice include a greater sense of ease and wellbeing in daily life, connecting with an inner sense of peace and stability, increased emotional regulation and concentration, and greater freedom from one’s thoughts. It has also helped practitioners decrease symptoms of various physical conditions. But please put any expectations aside, come with an open and curious mind and explore what the practice can do for you.

Although Mindfulness has been practiced by many wisdom traditions around the world, the link to Buddhist Vipassana meditation is the most known in the West. That said, Mindfulness is not a religion but a very embodied, alive and grounded practice which can be practiced by anyone regardless their life perspective.

If you don’t want to sit or lie on the grass, please bring a blanket and anything else that would make you comfortable.

The sessions are guided by Lillian Ysen Biørnstad, qualified Mindfulness and MBSR teacher.

The sessions are donations-based, which means you can offer whatever you'd like.

You’re welcome to join us for Mindfulness meditation in the beautiful Jardim Gulbenkian (São Sebastião metro). It's open for beginners who would like to discover and learn, and meditators who would like to keep up their practice in a friendly environment. If it’s your first time, please have a good look at the dropped pin on the map in the group and "how to find us" - the meeting point is not always easy to find. The session begins with an introduction to the practice, followed by a guided meditation. After the meditation, we will have an opportunity to share what we'd like from the practice itself. No prerequisites are necessary to participate, everyone can practice in a way that makes sense to them. If you don’t want to sit or lie on the grass, please bring a blanket and a cushion/pillow or anything else that would make you comfortable.
