"eCommerce Search and Relevance using Apache Solr", Grant Ingersoll

Abstract: Ever since Solr was created, it has been a strong player in the eCommerce space, powering top tier commerce sites worldwide and helping companies leverage search to deliver scalable, cost-effective results and higher conversions. In this talk, Solr committer Grant Ingersoll will cover Solr's features that play especially well in the eCommerce space, as well dig into tips and tricks for relevance that help accelerate conversion and improve the search and navigation experience.

Speaker: Grant Ingersoll is the CTO and co-founder of LucidWorks as well as an active member of the Lucene community – a Lucene and Solr committer, co-founder of the Apache Mahout machine learning project, and a long standing member of the Apache Software Foundation. Grant is also the co-author of “Taming Text” from Manning Publications.

"Setting Sail with Solr: Will it Float?", Target Search Team

Abstract: Search is quickly becoming a crucial part of the experience of any website worth its salt. Providing relevant results quickly and reliably across selling channels is essential to long term success. Given this dynamic environment, Target has started the journey with a new product team coupled with Apache Lucene/Solr and feels that this recipe will allow it to rise to the dynamic challenges of search. Data, scale and relevance are three areas that the Target Search team is attacking as they migrate off of their current platform in an aggressive test and learn environment. Results so far are promising but Target wants to do more. In this overview discussion, the Target search team will talk a little about their team and focus primarily on some of their wins and challenges in indexing, managing scale and initial thoughts about how to attack the relevancy equation.

Speaker: Target's Search team will talk about their movement to an agile product team focused on using Solr to rise to a new level of search powered by open source.
