Join us in exploring the art of erasure!

In this group we get together and make erasure poems. An erasure poem is a type of found poetry created by removing words from an existing text (pages of a book, magazine, newspaper, etc.). Select words and phrases are left untouched by “eraser” (Whiteout or paint, most commonly) and read together as a new piece of writing – an erasure poem.

Each session begins with a brief introduction for newcomers to the form. We discuss technique and you have the chance to look at some published collections of erasure poetry. We then take pen or paintbrush to page and make our own erasure poems. At the end of the session, you are given the opportunity to share your poem with the group.

Your finished erasure poem is a beautiful piece of art, ready to hang on your wall. They also make great gifts!
