  • Photo Scavenger Hunt along the Mississippi

    Lucky's 13 Pub

    $2.00

Because of high water, we are starting and ending our hunt in Mendota. We will organize and start across the street and a couple hundred feet west of Lucky 13. There's better parking at the historical monument and then will meet at the restaurant when done. If you want to leave a car there, it's easy to get back to it afterwards. https://www.luckys13pub.com/ There you will break up into teams of no more than 4 people. After the teams are made (you can make your own, if you want), you will be given a list of clues and rules in order to find landmarks along the Mississippi from downtown Mendota to downtown Minneapolis. After questions are answered, each team will get into one car and figure out the clues and then go and take a picture of each landmark. After accomplishing this you will head back to Lucky 13. Prizes will be given to the team with the most correct answers. If a tie, we will have a drawing. This is not a timed event, so we hope you will enjoy the day, the sights and each other's company for a enjoyable afternoon. We have driven the course a few times, it is important that you watch for bikers and people out walking. What each team will need: 1. A car, if you don't drive you will be asked to help with gas. 2. A safe driver 3. A phone that can take good pictures 4. The anticipation of a fun time! We will meet back at Lucky 13 and enjoy an early happy hour/supper. The $2.00 fee is for the fabulous prizes!

  • The last 2018 GameNight! is a POTLUCK, BYOB, PRIVATE HOUSE PARTY in Bloomington!

That's right, the last 2018 GameNight! is a POTLUCK, BYOB, PRIVATE HOUSE PARTY in Bloomington! Why? Why NOT? Every week we go to some bar/restaurant, spend money on food and/or drink and have to leave when they close up. House partys are just more easygoing. The location will be swell also... I have been to my friend Dave's house down in Bloomington for several partys. He has a beautiful home, big and spacious. There will be plenty of driveway and street parking, and lots of tables to spread out the games. Also, his kitchen can hold whatever food and drinks you chose to bring. Don't forget... this is a potluck, new for the group, but a nice way to hold a party. Everybody brings some food to share: entrees, snacks, side dishes, you chose what to contribute. I usually bring Cub Foods Wing Dings, they always have been a hit and often are the first thing gone! It's also a BYOB, so whatever you like to drink, bring it. Just be responsible enough to drive later! (Dave only has six bedrooms in his little cabin by the river.) ...LOL. What else? Nothing much is going to be different, we eat, socialize while playing all the usual boardgames. Just in a different place than usual. Here's hoping to see you soon, down in the far-away suburban wilderness of BLOOMINGTON! your organizer/hosts, Chris and Dave PS... Park in the driveway, or in the cul-de-sac. Go up to the front door. TEXT or call Chris at[masked] for any more information...

  • "HOLD MY BEER" #3: TWO FOR ONE! Let's check out the Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery!

DEFINITELY NOT JUST FOR BEER LOVERS...LOL! Just another social event so that we can reinforce our friendship together... By the universal method of drinking and eating with one another. For this session of "Hold My Beer", let's go to a new, classy spot over in Saint Paul: Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery. They are also a restaurant, so the food situation will be taken care of too. Then, we can walk a block away to the Bad Weather Brewery and have a couple more top-notch beers of theirs. .......TWO FOR ONE! I checked the Waldmann Brewery out last week, and they make some nice german-style brews. The building that houses Waldmann was constructed in the fall of 1857 β€” six months before Minnesota became a state, nearly four years before the American Civil War began, and at a time when less than 10,000 people lived in Saint Paul. It is the oldest surviving commercial building in the Twin Cities. Its rich history and distinctive limestone construction merited designation as an official Saint Paul Heritage Preservation Site in 2015. Here's a link to more info... http://waldmannbrewery.com/the-waldmann-story/ Also... The main webpage link is: http://waldmannbrewery.com The beer list is here: http://waldmannbrewery.com/the-beer/ The food menu is here: http://waldmannbrewery.com/the-menu/ Afterwards, if you still have room for more beer, the Bad Weather Brewery is a block away. Easy walking distance. They have been around for a few years now. But, not as long as the Waldmann building has! Lots of good brews to enjoy there. Here is their weblink: http://www.badweatherbrewery.com/home/ Their selection is large, 15 different types of beer on the chalkboard when I was there last week. So, something for everyone... and all good stuff! Even if the weather is bad, both places have roomy indoor areas to sit and sip. But if the weather cooperates, each business has some outdoor space to enjoy the Minnesota summer. Just don't blink! Let's have a TWO for ONE set of happy hours, lots of good beer, and ...maybe some fancy german wursts? YOLO, I can hardly wait to go! Your host, Chris Hoppe Beer-buddy, & first with the thirst... Final advice... Look for me! Maybe at the bar, or best of all, upstairs at Waldmann's. Call or TEXT[masked] for more information...
