Can you think of a location you'd like to hike with the Backpackers group?

Locally, I'd like to get the eastern half of the SHT completed. I'm starting to look at another Sierra trip that would be more of a lake tour loop.

What's your favorite part of being out in nature?

Mosquitoes, deer ticks and torrential downpours...what more can you ask for. Actually I like the combination of doing something physically active and getting into places that most people will never see. I like the simplicity of only having to think about where you're going, where's the next drinking water and what's for dinner. No cell, internet, or work to interrupt the flow.

Are you a beginning backpacker? Or are you more experienced?

I have 2+ decades of experience in the Adirondacks Mountains of upstate NY and several week long trips to southern half of the Sierras. Biggest mountains were Kilimanjaro (2007) and Mt. Whitney (2012). I also was a Venturing leader (a coed Boy Scout program for 16-20 y. o.) for a couple years in the late nineties before moving to MN. A rash of injuries, and being past peak age-wise, has cut the distance I can do a daily basis (4-6 hrs/day for a week is the comfort limit), so I like trying to make the camp locations interesting...Take time for some swimming, fishing or photography.

Introduction

Backpacking in the mountains has been a long time hobby. I have considerable experience in the Adirondacks and Sierras, along with some portions of the SHT.
