Announcing a new Meetup for The Minneapolis/St. Paul Backpackers Meetup Group!

What: 24 miles - Judge Magney to Grand Marais

When: Friday, June 11,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

We will be hiking south from Judge Magney State Park to the Grand Marais trailhead on June 11, 12, and 13. This trip is 24 miles.

If you sign up for this trip, please be flexible to a schedule change in the event of group decision. We have a jam packed weekend, so please be open to waking up early so we can start hiking by 8am on Saturday and Sunday. Depending on the availability of campsites and/or group needs the mileages of each day may vary slightly.

This is an Intermediate to ADVANCED backpacking event. Please have knowledge of gear and being in the wilderness for several days. Remember everybody goes at their own pace, but we are still a group and it is expected that we look out for each other!

Turn right onto Cook CR 53 (Pincushion Dr) and go 0.25 miles to parking lot. Turn from Gunflint Trail has sign marked "Scenic Overlook". Car(s) can be parked here overnight.. We will then shuttle the cars to the Judge Magney parking lot where we will begin our journey. We will backpack 5.2 miles to the Little Brule River Campsite.

Saturday, June 12 ? Leave camp by 8am to hike to the Durfee Creek Campsite. Today we will backpack 11 miles.

Sunday, June 13 - Today we will hike 7.9 miles to the Grand Marais Trailhead, go to lunch and drive home.
