Mindful approaches to health and weight loss emphasize self-compassion. This means accepting your current weight and body as it is, even if you have goals to improve your health. It also means forgiving yourself for setbacks and not falling prey to the what-the-hell effect. To the uninitiated, self-compassion might sound like excuse-making. But research shows just the opposite: self-compassion increases a sense of personal responsibility, without the typical guilt of self-blame. When you don’t have to deal with feeling bad about yourself, it is easier to get back on track. Mindfulness based weight management program teaches you skills on how to cultivate awareness and manage your weight. It is based on Mindfulness practices that include breath awareness, many different types of meditation, and gentle Yogic practices as well as emotion replacement therapy techniques. We will address the whole spectrum of our lives that is contributing to weight gain and the inability to maintain a healthy body weight. Members are responsible for each others weight management goals to ensure that each of us are accountable to the other's progress and success in achieving our individual goals. Each meetup will begin with discussions on individual goals, keeping track of progress, accountability, perceived challenges, goal setting and follow up on goals met. The meetup will conclude with a group therapy session that involve guided imagery and positive suggestions for transformation. Our goal is not just to talk about change, but produce positive and measurable change.
