If you want to top rope climb at the North Shore and/or do multi-pitch climbs anywhere, there are some additional skills you should know to have a safe and fun time.
This class is for you if you already know how set up top rope anchors, or know how to trad climb and want to learn some multi-pitch skills such as:
• How to set up anchors to belay someone from the top
• How to belay from the top
• How to rappel over an edge
• How to raise a climber who has trouble getting to the top
• If you don't know at least how to set up top rope anchors, please don't sign up. (This in fairness to the other students.)
If you already know how to trad lead but want to practice setting up anchors for multi-pitch and/or some more advanced top rope anchoring skills, this is for you too.
Bring any gear you have but for sure you will need your harness, a belay device (an ATC Guide type and/or GriGri), your good sense, some type of climbing and/or approach shoe, some snacks and beverages and....I'll supply the rest. If you have a helmet, bring it. If you want to stay after and climb, I'm sure there will be other class members who also want to do that.
If you have a question about whether or not you should go to this class, contact me.
It'd be nice if you already knew these knots:
• Clove hitch
• "Bunny Ears" aka Double Loop Figure 8
• Flat Overhand
• Auto block knot
If you don't know all of these already, you'll learn them. (https://www.animatedknots.com/climbing-knots)
The $50 fee goes to support the Access Fund.
