Freethought Picnic for All Ages & Interests - June 14, noon, Columbia Park, Mpls

  • Jun 14, 2009 · 12:00 PM
  • Columbia Park

This is the first of three summer picnics for all of us atheists and humanists (sponsored by College Atheists, Skeptics and Humanists of the U of M). There's a great playground for kids, a basketball hoop, fields for ultimate frisbee, soccer, bocce ball and other games, and a picnic area for dining, board games, and lots of conversation! The picnic is a potluck. Please bring some edibles to share. The shelter has electricity and a sink.

Families: in your RSVP, please mention the ages and genders of your children

Athletes (all levels): please tell us what sport you prefer so we can get a game going

Board gamers: please let us know what games you enjoy and any you can bring

Musicians: please mention which musical instrument you plan to bring for an impromptu jam

COLUMBIA PARK is located in northeast Minneapolis.
► Take Central Ave NE (MN Hwy. 65) to Columbia Pkwy. (Between 36th Ave. and 37th Ave.)
► Turn west onto Columbia Pkwy.
► Proceed along Columbia Pkwy. (0.35 miles).
► After you go under the railroad bridge, you will see the park on your left.
► Take the first left onto the service road (you will see a sign for “800 Columbia Blvd.”). Proceed to the second parking lot on your left (0.2 miles). (You should see us by the shelter on the hill!)

See you on Sunday, June 14th!

Nice range of activities. We even played ultimate Frisbee! Lots of interesting people, too. Only wish I could have stayed longer--it was still going strong after two and a half hours.

It was a nice area with room to do a lot of varied activities, and it's always a good time when getting together with fellow freethinkers! :)

Great time and great venue for meeting new people with a same mindset. Though still new to the MeetUp seen, I am slowly and surly getting to know other fantastic thinking souls with the openness to understand what life is really about without the mythical beliefs and religiously dogmatic views. Great bunch!

I had a good time. I was a little unsure if I was at the right picnic, so you might consider a small sign for the newbies.

One more message for those that come HUNGRY, I am making enough "Un-Tity Josephs" (Sloppy Joe's) - Home Made, not the Canned Manwhich Junk but the real Home Made type for an Army. You will love Em even more than the Local Church's Sundays Best, Even Jesus would Jump Off the Cross to get One. See ya there...

We could bring some rackets maybe.

We are going to bring ingredients to make your own fruit, yogurt and granola parfaits. How fun! :)
