If you crave casual yet intelligent conversation about important issues with other nonbelievers, then join us at Caribou Coffee on Snelling Avenue North in St. Paul (across from the Har Mar Mall) on Tuesday, November 30th at 6:30 p.m. Not a book club (we have three very successful ones now, and if you haven't attended one yet, please do), this Meetup is organized around a topic, and you are invited to share your knowledge and ideas. There will be one minimum requirement to help focus the discussion, in this case listening to a recent segment of the NPR program Science Friday that explores whether science is the best way to develop human values. The participants are Sam Harris (author of the recent book The Moral Landscape), evolutionary psychologist Steven Pinker, cosmologist Lawrence Krauss, and philosopher Simon Blackburn. The program is 48 minutes long, and can be found here:
Questions will be provided to spur the conversation, with your host moderating to be sure that everyone gets a chance to voice their opinions. We must limit attendance to no more than 14, so be sure to update your RSVP if your plans change. We have the meeting room until 8:30 p.m.
Hope to see you there!
