Night of Unbelievable Fun with the Mr Paul Aints

While Minneapolis will be hosting the 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, St. Paul will be hosting the more affordable—and probably more fun—2014 MN Atheists/FFRF Atheist Game across the river!

For the 3rd year in a row the Minnesota Atheists organization is taking over Midway Stadium and secularizing the St. Paul Saints to the Mr. Paul Aints. There will again be atheist-themed shenanigans between innings, including a “Doubting Thomas” who will likely be unconvinced of the umpire’s calls. The players will wear specialized jerseys with the Mr. Paul Aints logo, and these jerseys will be auctioned off during the game.

The Aints are hoping to get their first win this year, which will be a little bit more special since this is the last year that the team will play at Midway Stadium. The game against Kansas City will begin at 7pm on Friday, July 11 which is when the weekend-long All-Star Fest begins in Minneapolis (the All-Star game is on the following Tuesday). Whether you’re a baseball fan or not, this game will be unbelievably fun—as will the pre-game tailgating which begins at 4:30 at Midway Stadium’s parking lot.

Stick around the beautiful, secularized city of Mr. Paul on Saturday because we’ll be holding an All-Star Conference.

The Ticket Portal is now Open! Go to SaintsGroups.com and enter the passsword: "Atheists" to sit with your fellow atheists! There are two ticket options:

• $22 for an infield reserved ticket with a Mr. Paul Aints Hat.

• $12 for a general admission ticket with a free Hot Dog & Soda.

(a RSVP on Meetup only does not get you into the game, but you're welcome to participate in the tailgating outside the stadium regardless of whether you have a ticket or not)

Thanks to everyone for being so friendly and welcoming. This was our first event *and* we brought our friends with us and we all had a great time talking with people before the game and joining you in Section B. Hope to see you again soon!

My first Aints game! Thanks to the board, the FFRF and everyone else who helped to make this happen. In my uneducated opinion, this type of "higher profile" activity is effective and worthy of our time and money. I'm not a baseball fan, but that was an exciting game. My first time tailgating too. Didn't actually see a tailgate in our group, but It was still a great time. 87 - Great turnout, Atheists!

I don't have the exact number but my Saints contact told me Friday that our ticket portal was somewhere around 130!

      1 · July 14, 2014

    • Paul S

Yeah, regarding higher profiling, I wandered over to the other sections and someone asked me where I got my Aints shirt, and how much it cost. It's nice to be able to refer them to our website!

It was great to see so many people again! Such a fun night!

Sorry I didn't get around to saying "hi" to you!

Can't remember the last time I went to such an exciting game. Did anyone else find a Christian flyer on their car afterwards. Mindless crap with bible verses and please don't go to Hell. All assertions with no backing.

    3 · July 11, 2014

    • Rob K.

Can't say I found anything on my car.. Though I did pick-up a couple of those "Get out of Hell Free" cards from the MN A. table.. LOL

Parked on the street with a Darwin fish on my trunk. Flyer was lovingly rolled then gently slid into the driver door handle. I hate spoil the ending, but apparently there's this guy that loves all of us but wants to damn us to eternal conscious suffering if we don't repent and praise him (sorry ladies, God is a dude). If you'd like to read it for yourself, you'll have to make it to my recycling bin by 7:30am tomorrow morning.

Aints win! Aints win! Holy Cow! The Aints win! It was a thrilling match against the Kansas City T-Bones that ended with a walk-off game winning single in the bottom of the 11th inning! This is the first time in the history of baseball that an atheist-sponsored professional baseball team won a game. The Mister Paul Aints are now 1-2. God-Less America!

Let face it, this game had everything..
Sunshine, full moon, fireworks, visiting coach throwing junk on the field, and...a nail biting 11th inning 3-2 WIN for the Aints!
I think everyone in the blasphemer's section (aka the B section) contributed greatly to the win.

It was a fun night all around. Managed to get a sitter so the wife and I were able to enjoy a night out together for once..

It was, without a doubt, the best conference of any kind that I have been to in years. Thank you to the planning committee for your hard work. It certainly paid off!

Tomorrow (6/18) is the last day to order your own personalized and secularized Mr. Paul Aints jersey. It's the same authentic, tackle-twill stitched jersey that the players will wear! Here's the link where you can place your order: http://mnatheists.org/store#!/~/product/category=[masked]&id=[masked]

    • Eric

Another board member is in charge of the shirt orders. I will follow up with him right away. Was it a t-shirt or personalized jersey that you ordered? If you're attending tonight's game I can personally hand the shirt to you (if it was a t-shirt).

      July 11, 2014

    • Kevin D.

I think just a shirt. I believe I ordered it on the 20th but the order still went through. My number is[masked] please get in touch at the game.

We will be at tailgating spot #10 along the fence in the Midway Stadium parking lot. The weather forecast indicates rain this morning but it should clear out by this afternoon.

What time will we be setting up the stuff? I could come a little early to help if need be. GO AINT'S! :-)

      July 11, 2014

    • Eric

That's great! Bill and I will be there around 3:30. I don't think many people arrived until 4:30 last year so anytime around 4pm (give or take a few minutes) would be fantastic. Thanks!

<-- One man delegation of Atheists of Serbia will be present at the game. We show our support for your fight for secularization and freedom from religion.

Some of us have Aints T-shirts and jerseys. Introduce yourself to a person clad in either!

By the way, FFRF co-president Dan Barker will be singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch!

I received tickets thru a charity fundraiser and redeemed for Friday's game. Is there anything special I need to do so we can go thru the Infidel portal and sit with everyone? Very excited to be coming to our first game :)

    1 · July 7, 2014

    • Lori Ann C.

Good news ... I had paid a little extra when I got the tickets. I just checked them and they do have the "Night of Unbelievable Fun" on them, so I think I am all set!

      July 7, 2014

    • Eric

Hi Lori - That title might be on all of the tickets sold for the game even if you're not part of the FFRF/MN Atheists portal. The "Infidel" section is in Section B. If your ticket is not in that section you might be able to find a spot for an inning or two; or during some of the in-between antics. There will be a few in the GA section as well, and there will be several of us just milling around the stadium. I look forward to seeing you there!
