Announcing a new Meetup for Minnesota Atheists Meetup Group!

What: Classic Movie Night at the Heights Theatre - Mildred Pierce. Oct 1, 7:15 p.m.

When: October 1,[masked]:15 PM

Where:
Heights Theatre
3951 Central Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55421
[masked]

Attention film buffs: this is a rare chance to see the classic 1945 film noir that won Joan Crawford an Academy Award in the perfect movie setting. In case you've never been, the fully restored Heights Theatre has been called "a Fabrege egg of a theatre that offers beauty everywhere you look" (Pioneer Press). Before the show, keyboardist Harvey Gustafson plays on the Mighty Wurlitzer organ that rises from the floor. Plus, vintage food commercials provided by the Minnesota Historical Society will whet audience appetites for the main feature.

For more information, visit the Heights Theatre website and scroll down:

http://www.heightstheatre.com/index.cfm

If you aren't already familiar with the film, visit the Internet Movie Database page:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037913/

Directed by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca), based on the James M. Cain novel (Double Indemnity), this is a film that is even better on the big screen.

We'll be lining up outside the theatre starting at 7:00, but you might want to get there a bit earlier. This is likely to be a well attended screening, with only the one showing on Thursday night.
