Abstract: In January 2016, most of the Parse.com users around the world were shocked to hear that their highly supported Facebook owned data housing platform will be no longer in 2017. In this talk we will discuss the process of finding a migration path from Parse.com to a new platform. We will discuss the pros and cons of some competing products, building your own custom API, or using the open source version of Parse. We discuss how we settled on Firebase and the advantages of standardizing on this platform. The remainder of the discussion, I will show some technical aspects of migrating our app from Parse to Firebase. This will be a high level talk, but there will be some code samples comparing the SDK’s.
