agree. I have been a programmer/developer since the stone age -
Punched Cards, Fortran, early Basic, PDP-8 assembly, etc. I have
programmed in so many languages I have lost count. many Basic versions,
many assembly languages, COBOL, VB, Pascal, C, C++, Peoplesoft, C#,
Delphi, etc. etc. Recently Android using Java. None of it has been a
waste of time. It has been a lot of fun.
With every new language or environment you learn something. After a
while a new language is just some syntax changes with all the basic
principals remaining the same. If someone doesn't want to keep
learning, they should find a different career, IMHO.
It is a great time for developers. Anyone who has some interest
should just jump in. It probably doesn't matter much where or what
