An API-First Approach to World Domination In this developer lab, we will go from zero to world domination in just a few easy steps®. We will start by building out an API layer with the open source tool, LoopBack, that will be magical in how fast and easy we can build our own APIs. Then we’ll transition to IBM’s API Connect to orchestrate microservices, serverless functions, 3rd party APIs and legacy systems. From this position we can assume total control of the universe. It’ll be awesome!

- DevLab and Startup Demo Night
Join us for a night of learning about API creation and seeing the latest demos from NYC's Startup Community. ---------------------------------------------------------------- STARTUPS APPLY TO DEMO APPLY HERE! (http://bit.ly/momodemos) ---------------------------------------------------------------- Rapid API Development w/ Node.js and LoopBack Whether you're building for mobile, the Web, or server side, it's pretty much guaranteed you're going to be consuming APIs. But just relying on publicly available APIs isn't going to get you to the finish line. Whether it's to securely access a database, offload compute and network overhead from the client, or just make it easier to manage your use of third-party services, you're going to have to build your own API. This talk will demonstrate how you can use Node.js and the open-source Loopback framework to rapidly get a RESTful API with full CRUD operations up and running. Some of the topics covered include exposing an existing database, consuming and transforming data from a third-party API, and injecting application logic. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Agenda 6pm - Doors Open/Food/Drinks/Networking 6:30pm - Welcome/Intro 6:40pm - Rapid API Development Overview 7:20pm - Startup Demos 9pm - Lights Out
