Paywalls, Revenue Recovery & Ad Blockers

Audiences use adblocking not out of spite, but out of necessity. They don’t want to put anyone out of business; they just want to have a better user-experience. Surveys from YouGov and HubSpot show that as many as 83% of ad block users only want to block ads they consider invasive. The often-cited PageFair survey of US ad blockers reported 77% of users are willing to view some ad formats in exchange for free content. And 30% of people use ad blocking mainly because of privacy and malware security concerns.
