Recap Saturday June 27th Meetup

Thanks to all who came to the meetup. Returning members Cile, Kathy, and Tommy; new members Sean and Chris, and thanks to Tammy for granting use again of her studio and gallery, Images By Tammy in Covington's Arts District.

We spoke about the glamour shoot that Sean and I had just completed there an hour earlier. Passed around my camera with the raw images still fresh from the shoot. I described how well the shoot went, how nice it was to work with such a talented and uninhibited model as Sicilia, and about shooting in such a nice studio as Tammy's. By the way, if anyone wants to rent studio time, speak to Tammy. Some of those images will be Photoshopped and put on my website at: http://dreamstaronline.com/Modeling/Gallery/gallery.html

We passed around photos taken by our members and saw some really good ones. Keep taking those photos, especially of models and portrait-style. Tommy told us he had found his first model on Model Mayhem. Check out my site there at http://ModelMayhem.com/dreamstar to see Model Mayhem and how your site might look set up.

We also passed around favorite books, such as Kathy's book on great photos and how did they set that up, Tommy's book on setting up a model's portfolio, and my two books on posing.

We spoke about lighting, referenced Tammy's studio lights in the room, and thanks to new member Chris for showing us his do it yourself method of setting up a remote flash unit on a tripod using a special adapter (approx $10) and a standard diffusion umbrella.

Next meeting, let's see if people can bring in a trick or two they consider valuable in their photography bag of tricks. Also keep bringing in your work for us to see, and if you want any specific type of feedback, just let us know. I am hoping to have a model or two show up for our next session so we can have the last portion of the meeting dedicated to head shots. If we start limited to head shots, we have a chance to get this most important part of glamour photography fine tuned before we move onward to more full body shooting as a group.

Next meeting should take place on the same schedule, the last Saturday of the month, July 25th at 3:30 pm at Tammy's studio/gallery in Covington.

Please respond to this email with feedback and ideas. Also, you good members out there who haven't come to a meetup yet, please let me know what we need to do to accomodate you.
