What we're about

Rapier & Dagger and old school stage combat, although useful, are not directly applicable to today's modern high paced action genre.

Guns, knives and close quarter hand to hand combat delivers a fresh expert edge, to the fight sequences seen in 21st century Action Movies. Films such as The Avengers, Atomic Blonde and John Wick are all changing the way audiences enjoy cinematic action, and with this new found serge in Action Movies, many high profile actors are being asked to train and perform their own fight scenes. This is even more common in indie films, where budgets don't allow the luxury of elaborate stunt teams.

Training sessions will cover skills and theory in all aspects of screen action, including performance and choreography. This is a great starting point for both actors who want to get ahead with their action experience for future roles, as well as martial artists who want to make the jump into the world of filmmaking.

Ever wanted to learn some of the skills used to transform Actors into the Heroes of Stage and Screen? Skills on the day: Physical warm ups How to train a Cinematic Weapon Strikes Practice reactions Using different Weapons Applying Weapons in Fight sequences Filming Action scenes The focus of the course will be training and practice. It will be a very physical day, one that will provide the perfect insight into how the preparation process works for future Action roles and projects. What to Wear? The training is going to be very physically demanding, and therefore I would recommend loose, comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little creased. What to Bring? You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink, and with it being held at the Harrowall climbing centre, there will be a cafe and small restaurant, as well as access to showers and changing facilities. What time to arrive? As a fire safety precaution, everyone will need to register on arrival. This takes about 5 minutes, but due to the number of people attending, I would recommend getting to the centre at least 15-20 minutes earlier so that we can start at 10am.
