  • ***POSTPONED*** Trip to Mendocino and Rail-bike ride on the old Skunk Rail

    We are POSTPONING this trip as The Skunk Train organizers will not be booking any rides in June. Reschedule Date: TBD Join us for an overnight stay in Mendocino and a 2-seater Rail-bike ride on the old Skunk Rail. Approximate travel time to the Mendocino area is 5 hours. Dates: Friday June 14th - Saturday June 15th. (These are tentative dates since tickets are not yet available.) Once tickets are available, you will have to purchase them right away. There are only Seven 2-seater rail-bikes per session. (Price for each Rail-bike is $79-) ***We should double up so the cost for each person is $39.50- (+any extra fees at time of purchase)*** Once we know who is attending, anyone who would like to double up with someone in particular, please let that person know so you could be ready to purchase your tickets. *Please respond by: April 29th* We are limiting the number of people to 14 for this event.     25th Annual WOW June 21-23, 2019 The Surf City classic, Woodies on the Wharf, is Northern California’s largest woodie show that features more than 200 stylish wood-bodied cars. Admission is free! Music, woodie goodies and raffle prize drawings will add to the fun. Plus, free bike valet is available. Santa Cruz Woodies is grateful to the City of Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Wharf for continuing to support Woodies on the Wharf year after year. Saturday 10:00 am to 3:30 pm – 25th Annual Woodies on the Wharf Woodies start rolling onto the Wharf early Saturday morning and are greeted by SCW members with registration packets and welcoming goodie bags. No preregistration is required. This year over 200 woodie cars are expected to be on display. Activities throughout the day include music, merchandise sales and raffles. Hundreds of raffle prizes including beach bikes and surfboards with 90 percent of raffle proceeds going to worthy charities. Of course, there will be lots of wandering the wharf, checking out all the woodies, and visiting the Wharf merchants and restaurants. Famed shaper Bob Pearson of Pearson Arrow Surfboards will be offering a display of surfboards both legendary and modern including boards used in the movie “Chasing Mavericks” and he will be speaking about their history and importance. SCW and the City of Santa Cruz – Parks & Recreation Department are planning some very special additions to make this a truly memorable 25th Annual WOW so keep checking back and looking for Special Event Updates to get the details. Dog owners should be aware that dogs are not permitted on the wharf. 3:30 p.m. – The Parade off the Wharf One of the highlights of the day is the Woodie Parade off the Wharf which begins promptly at 3:30 p.m. If you drove your woodie, please make sure to check your registration packets for parade instructions, and to follow the directions of the folks in orange vests so that you can help make this an enjoyable and hassle-free parade for everyone. 4:30 P.M. – 25th Annual WOW Tailgate Dinner at the Ocean Pacific Lodge Saturday evening, plan on joining us to celebrate at the Ocean Pacific Lodge. Bring your chairs, some appetizers and liquid refreshment, and stake out your spot in the parking lot where major Aloha is the order of the evening. The evening will include gathering with our Woodie Ohana for food, fun, raffles, great live auction and live music to end the evening. A catered dinnered will be available. Heading to Woodies on the Wharf? Trolley Transportation The trolley is the best way to get back and forth between the beach and downtown areas to avoid all the beach parking and traffic. The Santa Cruz Trolley is convenient, ADA-accessible, and an enjoyable way to experience what Santa Cruz has to offer for all ages. Trolley charges, run times and schedule will posted soon.
