James C. Rhee, CEO of the plus-size women's fashion brand Ashley Stewart, will speak on the topic, "Joining Money with Life: Key Values in Building a Strong Community." Rhee is an impact-focused entrepreneur, investor, operator and educator, and he will discuss how he transformed Secaucus-based Ashley Stewart from bankruptcy to its former glory.
FirePine Group, the investment firm Rhee founded in 2009, invests the capital of some of the world’s most sophisticated investors to fuel transformative and impactful change in multiple enterprises, including Ashley Stewart. Prior to this, Rhee was a senior investment professional at two leading, Boston-based private equity firms (growth and distressed), stewarding billions of dollars of enterprise value.
The event is part of the Finding Ashley Stewart College Tour, and will also promote the Ashley Stewart Leadership Scholarship Program, an initiative to help empower part-time or full-time women identifying students.
Event is presented by Montclair State's Office for Social Justice and Diversity, Office of the Dean of Students, and the Feliciano Center for Entrepreneurship.
