- 18:45-19:30 Session 2 – Short talks
Apache Solr is an enterprise search engine widely used in a variety of community or company-based projects. Session 1 will provide a general overview of what Apache Solr is and how it works. The first part of the talk will focus on some of the basic information retrieval principles that are implemented in Solr. The second part will provide some practical guidelines for building an index and searching documents. Finally, we will discuss how an index can be used to tackle some natural language processing tasks.
The goal of Session 2 is to provide a forum for discussion where members can share new ideas, issues, and solutions they have come up with when working on a project or a task involving Solr or a statistical model. Participants can also present a problem that they’d like the community to help them solve. To allow more people to contribute, we ask that presentations last between 5 to 10 minutes. If you feel your presentation will require more time, you are also welcome!
