Morrisville Community Garden (MCG) is a 501C-4 non-profit group located in Morrisville, NC for anyone interested in gardening and growing food for one's own family. All skill levels are welcomed no matter where you live. 10% food donations are given back to the community based on total harvest amounts, the rest members get to keep for their families. Charities receiving produce are either the Grow Our Kids program and occasionally Dorca's Ministries.
No individual plots but we have plenty of beds to grow. Group review will be made to decide what’s planted in the garden to eliminate invasive items (ex: morning glories or too much of one veggie type).
We have 2 types of formalized meetings. The main weekly workday meet-ups occur on Saturday mornings for 1-2 hours for doing general garden tasks (planting, weeding, projects, etc, getting together). In order to harvest from the garden, all paid MCG members are required to contribute 1-2 hours per week per our posted bylaws. The monthly board meetings (open to all interested MCG members) occur every 3rd Monday for 1 hour to discuss agenda garden items (ex: what to plant for the current season, planning, etc). Flexible alternate workdays are allowed if Saturdays are not the best time to work in the garden to get your 1-2 hours in per week in the garden. Just check the calendar for these variable alternate workdays to see who is available as a garden buddy or just stop by the garden to get your hours in. Logs are available at the garden to write down your hours worked.
