Saint Patrick's Day CONTRA with Susan Kevra & The Syncopaths(Women Sign Here)

Put down that Green Beer and spin with a partner instead!

If everyone who says they'd LOOOOVE to contra "next time" comes to this event, we'll pack the hall! Mostly Marin has co-hosted 3 contra events since last December and each one has gotten 5-stars! This is just plain and simple good-time dancing. Once you learn some basic steps and get with a veteran partner for a dance or two, you will be "a dancer"!!

Men: Leave your "dance anxiety" behind and come enjoy the workout. If you can walk, you can contra.

Scent-free dancing is requested.

Lesson at 6:45, dance starts at 7:30.

$12 at the door.

For the price you get a FREE lesson taught by the evening's dance caller, Susan Kevra (she knows what the dances will be that night!), guaranteed dancing with a partner as often as you want all evening long, yummy snacks at intermission AND LIVE MUSIC!!

(Contra dance music features fantastic fiddle tunes, driving Celtic rhythms, Cajun, old-timey and sometimes dashes of Eastern-European and swing.)

In addition to calling contra dances, Susan Kevra is a professor of French and American Studies at Vanderbilt University!! http://www.susankevra.com/

See contra dance with the Syncopaths here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XJzIRfl7gQ

Contra dancing focuses on pattern, flow and rhythm. It's energetic, so wear loose, comfortable clothes and low, smooth-soled shoes that will stay on your feet (not sandals or running shoes).
Beginners are WELCOME!

If you got to the lesson I saw you and was able to say, "Hello (and give you a glow bracelet!)." If you came in after 7:30 I wasn't able to spot you and greet you personally. Sorry if you felt stranded and alone! Come back again! And let me know if I marked you a No-Show in error.

Oops, I initially replied on the men's site--- Wish I could watch Y'all SPIN tomorrow nite, but am already promised to do some singing!
I heard: Don't forget to look at your partner's eyes or an ear, to avoid
dizzies! Have FUN & hope 2 C Y'all Prancing soon, when I can try again!

This was so much fun last time but unfortunately something has come up and I won't be able to make it. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for future dates. Hope everyone has an amazing night, see you next time.

I was just asked by the organizers of North Bay Country Dance to try and balance the genders for this meetup. There will be 2 signups...one for women and one for men. If your +1 on your RSVP is "a guy," just let me know!! Thanks, everyone!!
