The Hash House Harriers (abbreviated to HHH, H3, or referred to simply as Hashing) is an international group of non-competitive running/walking, social and drinking clubs. An event is known as a Hash with participants calling themselves Hashers, frequently going by nicknames which have chosen for them by the group. We've been doing this in Michigan since 1987
We would love to have you join us for a hash and a beer. Hashes are weekly on Sunday afternoon, occasionally a Saturday or maybe a during the week, or all three, but mostly Sunday. we hash in the Greater Detroit area ( from Lake Orion to Monroe and St Clare Shores to Chelsea although most are in the Ann Arbor-Detroit corridor).
Hashing is open for everyone of all abilities! There are no annual dues, just pay five bucks each time you come and your second hash is free. Our runs are non-competitive and co-ed and your must be 21 to join in! It's all about the making exercise fun but not making beer exercise. What do you get: A fun time, some beer, water if needed, a selection of starchy orange foods
The group has to follow a course of flour marks to get to a beer stop along the course for a mini-happy hour, sometimes two. Different flour symbols are used to designate the “true trail” to the “B.N.” (Beer Near). Ideally the pack (runners/walkers) catch the people (hares) setting the trail but the hares have a variety of sneaky tricks to try to keep that from happening. At the end of the trail (usually 4-5 miles) we gather to drink some more beer (optional—water is available at all stops, you do not have to drink beer if you do not want to, or are in rehab again) and sing some silly songs. Afterwards we usually go to a watering hole somewhere nearby for food and watering.
