One of the most difficult tasks in starting a tech meetup is getting people to your event. This problem is exceptionally difficult in WV. Most tech professionals are content with the status quo, and those who want to do more and socialize with like minded individuals have to travel long distances to do so. Don't fret! There's another way! We're going to try something different! We're starting the Mountain State Online Tech Hangout! Meetings will be held online using Google Hangout and IRC via Freenode. We'll meet at a certain time in IRC to have a group discussion about a particular topic related to software engineer, computer science, or related topics. We'll switch gears after about an hour to a Google Hangout On The Air where we'll have a presentation followed by a QA from the room aided with facilitators on the Hangout. If our attendance is less than 9, we'll just put everyone on the Hangout. We'll try this and see how it goes. Suggestions are welcome on how to improve the format, and spin off meetups are very welcome. Use this meetup to connect with others and expand naturally. Join us on @ #mtnstatetech
