Mountaineering, Climbing & Backpacking Of New England Pages

This group is for everyone with an interest in Mountaineering, Climbing, and Backpacking.

The meetups will run the gamut from beginner to advanced in all 3 of the above areas. We want to help beginners learn new skills and find some adventure in their time off and have fun as well as find times to push ourselves to meet new horizons.

We will hold meetups in Rock/Ice Climbing as well as hiking, Summer & Winter, multiplier-summit traverses in full conditions and with a technical nature.

The difference between this group and many other "hiking" groups is that the majority of our outings will include an overnight option. This is real backpacking! You gotta bring it all. Water, food, and all your supplies right on your back. Not only do you get the fun of carrying it all, You build a feeling of independence as well as learning how to manage to climb with it. "Alpine-style" climbing and hiking will be a focus of the group; "Climb with all you need and be completely self sufficient".

This groups outings will practice good mountaineering techniques and ethics, "Carry In/Carry out" & "Leave-No-Trace".

Mountaineering and backpacking are great ways to get up in the mountains with good friends and push your self to the limit as well as learn new skills. We will practice safe climbing and hiking at all times.

Ultimately, we would like this group and its members to set up national and even potentially international trips to areas of interest; Yosemite, Red Rocks, Aconcagua, Denali, Rainier, Hunter, Hood etc

Hope to meet all of you soon!
