Mountaineering/Ice Climbing Chamonix France

Working on the details of a group climbing trip to Chamonix, France one year from now.

More details to follow. Anyone interested please feel free to comment for now. RSVP's will open April 27th 2013 and exact dates to open in about a month or so, as well as cost details and group size details.

This will likely be a 15 day trip in the first weeks of the month of Jan 2014. I will do everything I can to minimize the expense of this trip and I am currently talking to an IFMGA guide who lives in Chamonix and who I have climbed with before.

There will be a $200 payment due at time of RSVP. This payment WILL NOT be refunded, but will be applied to group trip expenses and incidentals. I want to repeat; This PAYMENT WILL NOT BE REFUNDED (even if you cancel). Im giving everyone a few months to think about it. When RSVP's open in April, then you will have had enough time to make a rational decision. Thank you and hope we can make this happen....

Cheers and Happy New Years!

James

1-6-13 Update. Spoke with my guide in Chamonix, Neil Brodie, and we are working details. Neil can guide up to 3 max. If there is interest by more than 3, including myself, then will discuss with Neil possibility of recommending another guide.

Thanks James, yes please send me the contact information for Neil, I will be looking for a guide. I guess I got a little spoiled by the wide variety of activities available in the fall including skiing, rock climbing and ice climbing. Not a downhill skier anymore but from the activities I observed the skiing was great even in August/September. Plenty of snow. I definitely plan on returning in the fall of 2013.

No problem and this is all just preliminary right now. Like I said, I cant go till next year and it may be later next year. Im really just formulating a plan, testing the "interest" waters, and seeing what we can do.

Lot's of snow over there at that at that time of the year. Prefer to go in the fall or early summer when there is a choice of both rock or ice climbing, mountaineering. January will see nothing but ice/snow climbing.

Magic words: "Snow" and "Ice"... :-) In any event, I would like to include the possibility of some skiing... Climb up/Ski down, Climb up/Ski down.... That sort of thing... All open for discussion, but Im already going to Switzerland this Spring, so 2014 (including last week of 2013) is the earliest "I" can do. Neil is a great guide, though, and I can put you in touch with him...

Sounds interesting, I'd be interested in attending if the dates work out. I'd prefer one of the weeks to be between xmas and new years since I have that time off from work anyway.
