About us

International hiking group in Munich. Day trips to the Alps, and longer trips abroad.

What to bring: hiking boots or hiking shoes, backpack, snacks and water, sunhat, sunglasses, sun cream, water proof jacket.

Always a good idea: light jacket or sweater in case if it gets cold, dry shirt if the first one is wet from sweating, rain trousers, hiking poles.

Who can come?

Depends on the tour. The easier ones require you to manage 4 to 5 hours of walking with continuous 2 to 3 hours of ascent (often steep). Also you should not have problems with heights. At some points you need to hike on cliff edges and sometimes you even need your hands. The difficulty will be announced on each tour. So please make sure that you are fit enough.

What else?

Things don't always work out as planned. Weather, trains, and conditions can change without notice, so a resilient sense of humour is always required. This is a meeting of friends organised by unpaid volunteers so you remain responsible for your own safety.

We take the BergBus 396 from Munich towards the Ursprungtal, at the border to Tyrol. This roundtour in the Kufsteiner Berge leads along the ridge between the Schönfeldjoch and the Wildenkarjoch — a scenic summit hike that requires some sure-footedness (Trittsicherheit) and a good head for heights.
The trail is partly eroded and the ridge has steep drops on both sides, so caution is needed. The descent is steep with loose sand and scree (Geröll) in places. Because of the alpine character, wear good boots, and poles are recommended.
Seating on the BergBus is limited: a seat reservation is not mandatory but strongly recommended. No standing room is allowed, so without a reservation you can only board if a seat is free. I assume we can take the early bus back.
