What we're about

Some of my favorite things include concerts, plays (I have season tickets to both B Street Theater and Capital Stage), sport events (any live sport), author and other speaker events, road trips, train and boat cruises, touring museums and landmarks, food, beer, wine, and/or cocktail events, obtaining brewery passport stamps, hiking before scheduled events (always optional), and otherwise exploring all that the greater Sacramento and Northern California area has to offer.
Unless otherwise stated, you will be responsible for purchasing tickets to any events (links will be provided).
I'm interested in hearing what you want to do and welcome any and all suggestions for future activities.
If I have touched on one, some, many, or all of your interests, this is the group for you. Looking forward to exploring all the greater Sacramento area has to offer with you.

Community Murals Paint-by-Number

Needs a location

This is a free event, but you must register in order to participate: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/district-4-community-mural-paint-day-broadway-block-party-tickets-323670746917

Celebrate Broadway this Memorial Day weekend with an amazing opportunity to make your mark on Sacramento at District 4's Community Mural! In addition to the Paint by Number Mural, enjoy the Broadway Block Party held on 5th Street. With music, vendors, and food trucks, this free event offers art lessons by Matthew Goodwin Art Scholarship, a chance to connect with community groups and creative experiences for all ages!

The mural will be led by celebrated muralist Ryan Rhodes, with support from Stefhani Godinez, Brooke Correa, and Gerardo Zambrano. For 6 months, the team of artists have held art workshops with young people at Mercy Housing, students and teachers at Health Professions High School, staff at ABC 10 and other area non-profits. From those workshops emerged central themes, important figures and a legacy passed from one generation to the next. The public is invited to come paint this design!

Community Murals Sacramento is a new program sponsored by the The Sacramento Office of Arts + Culture. This event is sponsored by ABC 10 and the City of Sacramento's Office + Arts and Culture.
A community mural project allows an artist to collaborate with a community to achieve a result neither the artist nor the community could have achieved on their own.

My Favorite Dive Bar - Back Door Lounge (not a dive bar/day drinking experience)

This bar has red velvet and gold wallpaper, deep black leather booths and romantic lighting. Friday and Saturday nights local bands, dressed in their “lounge lizard” finery, perform excellent renditions of some of the Rat Pack's signature songs.

Patsy Cline and other torch singers are paid their due as well. Prominent blues bands have also been known to stop by and bring an electric charge to the atmosphere. Food is available during breakfast and lunch.

My Favorite Dive Bar - Cheaters Sports Bar

Needs a location

Inside the very long and narrow bar, with its shuffleboard table, jukebox, and domestic beers patrons find very stiff and inexpensive drinks. The 30-something crowd is quiet and friendly. The outdoor patio is a nice place to relax in the evening. Except for the jukebox full of standards, televised sports hold the stage, with tasty potlucks served during Sunday and Monday night games. It also holds the distinction of being just about the only place in Sacramento where you can get a great Bloody Mary at 6am.

My bartender son highly recommends this place.
