Description: The trail head (elevation 970 ft.) is about 0.2 miles from the Richardson House (http://www.smhps.org/museums.htm) and Lizzie’s Trail Inn (http://www.smhps.org/museums.htm) museum. The trail ascend northeast for 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1990 ft. to Orchard camp (el. 2,960 ft.). This is also known as the half-way point to Mt. Wilson. We will regroup and replenish before continue onward for 2.7 miles until to Manzanita ridge until you reach the Bench. Pay close attention at this junction, as the trails merge with the Winter Creek trail. From the bench we will continue onward for another 2.25 miles to Mt. Wilson. The scenery continues to be break taking as we traverse toward the summit. We will take a well-deserved break for lunch, while enjoying the view at the Cosmic Café (http://www.mtwilson.edu/cafe.html). The Café is close during the winter season, but there is a drinking water available for you to top off and flushed toilets for you to use. After a well-rested break, we will back trek the same way we came.
