** This date confirmed for the 31th, the time may be earlier as this will be a cross group hike.

Please know that I like to stop often to enjoy the scenery and take lots of photos. I go at a very easy 2 to 2.5 miles an hour depending on terrain and always stay on the trail. If you are one of those persons who wants to challenge themselves but are concerned about being too slow, this is the hike for you. This hike will prepare you for our next two 10+ mile hikes, Mt. Baldy from Manker Flats and Cucamonga Peak.

If this pace is too slow for you, you can always go ahead of us, or suggest this hike to a faster group (I will post the Alltrails.com link which gives a detailed description of this hike) which will be totally worth it as is really is a great hike.

Distance: 10.8 miles out and back.

Elevation: 3620 ft. gain

Difficulty: 6/10 - Intermediate

Duration: 6 - 7 Hours

Description: Because the parking lot fills quickly at Ice House (carpooling is suggested), we will meet just before 6:00 am at the Ice House Canyon Trail head. After a short grace period we will hike 1 mile into Ice House Canyon to the Chapman Trail junction, from there, we hike 1.5 miles to Cedar Glen Campground where we will take a short break. We then continue on Chapman Trail to the Ice House Canyon switchback junction which is .6 of a mile from Ice house saddle. At the saddle we will take a short break to catch our breath then hike uphill .9 of a mile to Timber mountain (totally worth it). After pictures and taking in the fantastic view of the Mojave Desert, Cajon pass and surrounding peaks of the Cucamonga Wilderness we will return back down to the saddle and take a 15-20 minute snack/lunch break. We will return to the Ice House trail head via the Switchbacks through Ice House Canyon.

Recommendation: Bring at least 3 liters of water/electrolytes, head gear, sun screen, lunch, snacks, hiking boots, trekking poles.

Direction: From 210 Freeway, exit Baseline Road. Head west on Baseline. Turn right on Padua Road and drive 2 miles to Mt Badly Road. Continue on Badly road until you reach Ice house canyon parking lots.

A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for parking. The parking lot can get full on weekends. If the parking lot is full, you can park alongside the road. Pay close attention to the posted signs. Carpooling is highly recommended.
