WEEKEND BIRDWALK, Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge

Purpose is to Introduce group to this area with woods, wetland, and river.
CAN CHOOSE THIS ONE ON THE WEEKEND AND/OR MAY 21ST during the week. This is typically a pretty busy area on the weekends.

Conduct a Bird walk. Dirt paths are very clearly marked, easy to navigate, and mostly free of obstacles. During walk will point out other trails of interest.

Wear tennis/ athletic shoes or hiking boots, ankle socks and/or long pants. Mostly wooded, bring big spray and water. No facilities in the immediate area. Paved road to gravel then gravel Parking is available and free. No admission fee sometimes volunteers request feedback on visit.

Birds seen on my last visit included but not limited to: Great Crested Flycatcher, Brown Thrashers, Prothonotary Warbler, Red-Eyed Vireo, Pileated Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, and Summer Tanager, Wood Stork, and Red-Tailed Hawk.
