Join us at our Young Adult Support Group for individuals with a mental illness.
This group is specifically for young people with a mental illness between the ages of 18 and 30. Young adults can benefit by attending a group of people there own age. This interaction with peers has been found to be more effective than an all-ages support group for the assistance of young adults. Attendance numbers vary and active participation is voluntary and encouraged. FREE and open to all. Preregistration is not required; just drop in.. NAMI Eastside is the East King County, WA chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Our mission is to improve the quality of life of those persons affected by acute and chronic mental illness through support, education and advocacy. Our members include families, friends, and people with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic depression), major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, general anxiety disorder, ADHD, and others. We sponsor free support groups and educational programs, and we advocate for improvements to our mental health delivery system in terms of access to care, standards of care, continuity of care, recovery, housing and rehabilitation. All groups are free; no pre-registration is required. Note. Meetup.com is a public website and does show up in search engines so use a nickname if you wish to remain anonymous as a member.

What we're about

This is a group for young people, ages 18-30, that have a mental illness (diagnosed or not). Family members and friends are not permitted to attend. Young adult consumers benefit from attending this group by being able to talk with others their age. The group is run in an easy-going, relaxed way. A NAMI trained facilitator is always present to lead the group and assure compliance with support group principles. All NAMI Eastside groups are confidential.

If you have questions, please call the NAMI Eastside office at (425) 885-6264 or info@nami-eastside.org . Check out our website at http://www.nami-eastside.org . Please use this email or phone number to contact us, we do not have enough staff to regularly check MeetUp Messages.
