A Way Through the Rocks

Harrisons Rocks,

Eridge Rocks and High Rocks

Harrisons Rocks are a series of limestone crags, publicly owned and managed by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). The Rocks have been mapped out to an incredible degree over time and there are 379 routes, each with a grade and a name, such as “Groovy Graeme”, “Breadknife Buttress” and “Rum and Ribena”. Several mountaineers first discovered their destiny here, including Julie Tullis, film-maker, conqueror, and ultimate victim, of K2.

This is a remarkable walk that you could never find just by looking at the map. It takes you through three great rock climbing zones near Tunbridge Wells: Harrisons Rocks, Eridge Rocks and High Rock (lunch stop). You can observe the rock climbers as you go. If you are a climber, you may want to bring your gear......

NOTE: This is a "walk" through an area of Tunbridge Wells and NOT a rock climbing event. However, we may see rock climbers along our route.

Level: Moderate (4/10)

Length: 8 miles (13km)

Duration: 7hrs plus lunch

Start/End: Eridge Train Station
Drivers: Eridge Road, Bridge Green, Tunbridge, TN3 9LE
