Join us for an early 3-6 May Day Bank Holiday.
Saturday and Sunday:
There will be guided hikes on both Saturday and Sunday, which includes Mt. Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales, at an altitude of 1,085 metres (3,560 feet) above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. Weather dependent.
We will visit the Mighty Caernarfon, which is possibly the most famous of Wales's castles. Its sheer scale and commanding presence easily set it apart from the rest, and to this day, still trumpet in no uncertain terms the intention of its builder Edward I.
The castle's majestic persona is no architectural accident: it was designed to echo the walls of Constantinople, the imperial power of Rome and the dream castle, 'the fairest that ever man saw', of Welsh myth and legend. After all these years Caernarfon's immense strength remains unchanged.
Our accommodation is a 200-year old independent hostel spread over a five floored town house, with the second floor allocated for our sole use, which includes our own showers and toilets.
The hostel is reported to be one of the cleanest and coolest hostels. The rooms boast polished wooden bunks, a 600 year old arch, a massive stone hearth.
The hostel is fully heated with all comforts of a home and a common room with TV/video's and games, along with a great choice of CD’s to play. The breakfast and kitchen/dining area in the basement is 600 years old!
