DURHAM CREEK WEEK: Guided Bird Walk @ Sandy Creek Park

As part of Durham's Annual Creek Week celebration activities, the Headwaters Group of the Sierra Club will be hosting a guided bird walk around Sandy Creek. Now known as a birding hot spot--it's hard to believe the beautiful wildlife-filled park was once referred to as "Old Stinky"!!!  We'll meet at 8am at the covered picnic area next to the parking lot.  The terrain is rather flat but may be a bit wet in spots--please wear closed toed shoes and bring your camera and binoculars! You will be able to share binoculars if you don't have your own, so don't let that keep you from coming!

We will have two wonderful bird guides (Robert Meehan and Kent Fiala (http://www.faintlake.com/) so we can take two smaller groups around the park.

All attendees (at all Creek Week events) will get a raffle ticket to win one of two Ivy Rain Barrels, courtesy of the City of Durham.

Click here for more information about Sandy Creek Park (including a bird list and slide shows of birds and other mammals seen at the park!)

If you are not a member of Meetup and wish to RSVP or have questions--please contact Kelly at [masked] [masked]).

All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a liability waiver.

Is this a kid-friendly event? My 7 year old son loves birds, and I think he would enjoy this a lot.
