Back by popular demand, we are thrilled to offer our fifth annual FROG WATCH outing!!!
BRING YOUR TALL RUBBER BOOTS (OR WADERS) AND HEADLAMPS!!! LIGHT RAIN WILL NOT STOP THE FROGS OR US!!!
Group Sex! (Do we have your attention?)
Frogs! (Do we still have your attention?)
If so, you will almost certainly enjoy our upcoming excursion to Sandy Creek Park, led by frog experts, to see and hear the explosion of spring song and mating activity among the park’s abundant Anuran (means frog) population. This activity will start half an hour after sundown and take approximately one hour.
Walking is less than 1 mile on level but wet surface. Bring waterproof boots/waders/shoes and strong headlamps and/or flashlights. This activity is sponsored by Friends of Sandy Creek Park and the Headwaters Group of the Sierra Club.
Nicolette Cagle ( http://www.trianglenaturalist.blogspot.com/ ) and Ron Grunwald from Duke will give a brief introduction to the types of amphibians out this time of year. Then we'll visit three different habitats with nets (we'll bring these!).
All participants on Sierra Club outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver. Parents/legal guardian must sign waiver for children under 18. Contact the organizers if you plan on bringing children other than your own (you will need to bring a waiver signed by the child's parent).
