What we're about
FOR: Those of y’all who enjoy day or weekend adventures to astounding places in nature. North Carolina has 13 national wilderness areas, 5 national forests, incredible spots in the Blue Ridge Mountains, on out to the Smokies – our own US National Park straddling the TN/NC border. And we plan to explore them all – plus a mix of the 35 state parks, like Grandfather Mountain & Mount Mitchell, and some of the nearby states, too – as a group of like-interested, adventurous, fit, 20- (or early 30-) somethings looking for a consistent group of friends with whom to hike and take full advantage of their weekend day(s) off work.
Having just moved to Raleigh (from DC/Austin/MD), totally new to town, I was ‘naturally’ looking for a group of friends who enjoy some of the same things – mainly weekends out & exploring the great outdoors… hiking, camping, kayaking, etc. BUT, while there’s a ‘trail’ of distinctly local groups for easy to moderate hikes, there seems to be a ‘gap’ for embracing *short drives* to the *best of mountains & waterfalls*, its ‘roots’ in *moderate to strenuous*, predominately *wilderness hikes*.
So if you’ve seen your weekend thrill ‘plateau’, or you’re just looking to ‘branch’ out & venture off the beaten path, ask yourself… ‘woods’ you be interested??
**N.B. To RSVP for an overnight trip, please have attended a day hike or social outing; this is for safety & familiarity of all members. Everyone is welcome to day hikes or social outings.**
